Newark Falldown Injury Lawyer: The Difference Between Slip and Fall and Falldown Accidents

People often confuse slip and fall and falldown injuries.  All injuries are not considered slip and fall.  Slip and fall injuries are caused by a person slipping on the floor or pavement they are walking on, usually due to wet floors, uneven flooring, or a slippery surface. Falldown injuries are not usually caused by the same hazards that slip and fall injuries are.  Falldown injuries are a result of losing balance due to things such as tripping over a wire, poorly lit spaces, and removed pavers.  Click here to check out this case that was handled by Stephanie Tolnai, Esq. of Clark Law Firm P.C.  If you have been injured in a falldown accident, contact Clark Law Firm to speak to a Newark falldown injury lawyer at 1-877-841-8855.

What Types of Injuries Are Caused by Falldown Accidents in New Jersey

Broken bones are one of the most common types of injuries caused by falldown accidents.  The extent of the injuries will vary based on how bad the falldown was, the age of the person, and many other factors.  An elderly person who has a falldown accident may also end up breaking their hip.  Broken bone injuries due to falldowns can result in broken legs, arms, wrists, and additional injuries. Many falldown injuries also require surgery to insert metal plates for broken bone injuries. After surgery, recovery can still take months or even years in more severe cases. The injured person may also require weeks or months of physical therapy.

A Traumatic Brain Injury from a Falldown Injury May Require Years of Rehab

In extreme cases, a falldown injury may result in a traumatic brain injury (TBI).  This type of injury may result from a falldown accident in which the person fell backward and ended up hitting their head on a hard surface such as concrete or stairs.  A TBI injury may require months or even years of rehabilitation, surgery, and ongoing emotional support which may include counseling, social work support, and resources.

Spinal Cord Injuries May Be Caused by a Falldown Accident

Another type of injury caused by a falldown accident is a spinal cord injury. The extent of the injury will be dictated by the impact and force of the fall as well as how the body was positioned when the fall occurred.

If a person suffers from a severe spinal injury, they may have to face spinal cord damage, fractures, or even a herniated disc.
